Sunday Works

Fading Light worked well this morning at CDT, going 4 furlongs in 48.20 which was the fastest of 8 works. Under Diego Rodriguez, she broke off under a good hold and finished up well, galloping out in 101.20. She will probably work again next weekend and we will start looking for a race for her. July 25th at AP in a NW1x going 1 1/8th on the turf is a strong possibility.

Aldebutante worked a 1/2 mile in 50.40 under Cherie. She broke off 2 lengths in front of Albin, going the first 1/4 mile in 26.30. She finished up down the stretch in 24.10 under a good hold and galloped out strong all the way back to the 1/4 pole. She caught her breath pretty quickly afterwards and cooled out fine.

Albin worked 5 furlongs in 103.4, starting off behind Aldebutante, taking some dirt in his face and finishing up fine. He did not get tired at all and will soon be ready to run. We will concentrate on getting him his gate card since he has been a little tardy leaving the gate in the morning. August 3rd at AP going 1 mile on the polytrack is the goal at this point.

Jacques Sparrow and Mercury Rising worked an easy 4 furlongs in 52. Cherie was on the inside with Jacques Sparrow and Rodriguez was on Mercury Rising on the outside. They went evenly throughout and galloped out well though Mercury was a little winded afterwards. Both are good out of the gate and will work for their gate cards next week.

Appoint 'two minute licked' 4 furlongs this morning. Ryan said that responded quickly when she asked her to pick up the pace in her gallop and was happy to get to go fast. She will work next week if everything continues to be positive with her.

Graphite Halo did not work due to a nagging cough that we have been treating this week. We did not want to risk her developing a fever or full blown sickness by adding too much stress to her this week. She should be back to her normal schedule next week.

Campaneris has galloped well and we are going to start to do a little gate work with her. i still don't think she will race before the fall but she is developing nicely.

Basketwoman and Operetta Italiano 'two minute licked' 5 furlongs in company and looked very good while doing so. Cherie commented that as OI picks up the pace her stride length seems to get bigger as she stretches out. Basketwoman goes with her head a little high and we have added a shadow roll to her to try to get her to drop it a little. Both of these fillies are scheduled to work next weekend, most likely going 3 furlongs in an easy fashion.

Colonel Klink did not work because he lost a shoe and banged up his foot a little. His shin has improved quite a bit this week and may not be an issue at all but we are going to let him go barefoot for a few days. I may work him later in the week if we can get some secure shoes on him.

Cool Clue is still nursing his sore feet and remains in light training. We are working on toughening up the soles on his hooves and will keep him in light training until they are better.

Normanruth is doing fine though still a bit weak in the hind end. It takes quite a long time for developing horses to build up strength in their muscles when they have not been in training for an extended period, especially in the hind end and over the back. That is one of the reasons that you have to have some training as a 2 year old even if the horse wont likely race at 2. They will never develop much muscle when they are running around a field without weight on their back.

Rampillion 'two minute licked' 3 furlongs under Ryan. She did it fine except for being a little late with her lead switches which is most likely due to inexperience. She will work 3 furlongs next week.

Comeback had some filling in his ankles and had a little reaction to the leg paint we put on them. He will continue to jog until that is cleared up which should not be long.

Carl S. galloped well and is still learning how to do things the correct way. He will do some gate work this week and will work next weekend or earlier depending on Colonel Klink.

Ships Cabin has done well since his work and will have a gate work sometime later in the week. We are pointing for July 19th race at AP going 6 furlongs in MSW company. The distance may be a bit short for him but will provide a good starting point for him.

Richwood Silver has been going well since her return to the track and will begin doing a little more as the week goes on.

Makutus is scheduled to work 4 furlongs tomorrow morning, in his first work since the Spring. He has been training well and is ready to get back on track.

Bubble Berry did not give much of an effort in her race on Friday and we will look to wheel her back soon in similar company.

Galaxy Lady also came out of her 2nd place effort in good order. We will run her back at Ellis Park in a conditioned claimer.

Inky Blanford is going well. His shin seems to have settled down and we will continue our slow progress with him.

Rain Shower is doing fine and is being pointed for a 25000 NW3LT race going 1 1/16th on the turf at AP on July 25th. Rene Douglas asked to ride which makes me believe that we are the best horse at AP in that condition. That does not ensure success but makes it the right spot to be in.

E Major was entered for July 11th at AP in a MSW going 6 1/2 furlongs. She has trained great since her trouble filled race last out and should be tough with a clean trip.

Kickin n Screamin seems to have no ill effects from her fall in the paddock the other day. She went to the track today and showed no problems.

Hacker Craft has been entered for the 10th at AP. The race is an ultra tough race for the class as there are several droppers, some with decent form. Hopefully we will get a better trip than last out.

Posse Valley and Sumwonlovesyou are going to Bluegrass Equine Center later in the week to start training on the Aqua Pacer.

Doctor Begue will examine Moonlight Flite next weekend and if given the okay we will also start her on the Aqua Pacer.

Bob's Bean is also heading for to BEC for a little turnout and specialized care.
